Lottie Moon Star Rises Again!

I just want all of you Clarke folks to know that the LOTTIE MOON STAR is once again shinning for the International Mission Board Missionaries and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. It is being used by Calvary Baptist Church in Newton during this emphasis. Since there was such a strong tie between Calvary and Clarke, we thought this would be appropriate in the 100th year of Clarke College history.

An Email Update from Bryan to Moses passed on to us:

Moses,
Thank you for getting the word out to the Clarke family. Through the emotions and tears when we talked I'm not sure what I said. Let me clear up something. The video he was shooting was for the ECCC Baptist Student Union (BSU). It was a video they were doing to build up the BSU students and there were other videos to follow trying to challenge the students to do more for God. They had already filmed other parts of the video and this was the last thing they were doing for the day The comfort we have, is that he went to God trying to do something for the Kingdom.

The Clarke family has already ministered to me and my family with emails, visits, attending the funeral and calls. Clarke was a special place and continues to be very special almost 35 years later.

Thank you again for your prayer and concerns.

100th Anniversary

Clarke College Alumni Association
April 26, 2008

Dr. Jasper Lewis McPhail, M.D., retired SBC IMB Medical Missionary, serving in South India under appointment in 1961, presiding over CCAA's meeting as President serving 2007-08. Dr. Jerry Paschal Moore, M.D., Pathology, Jackson, MS is CCAA's Vice President serving 2007-08. Dr. Moore is the son of the former Dr. O. P. Moore of Newton. Mrs. Chester Estes, Jr., Union, MS, is CCAA's Secretary-Treasurer, 2007-08.

Approximately some 30-40 Clarke College Alumni and friends attended the Saturday meetings. The 100th Celebration began on Friday evening as some 20-25 'Dutch treat' participants gathered at a local Newton restaurant for dinner, fellowship and 'memories.' The highlight of this 100th year celebration was the presentation of a bronze plaque recognizing the faithful years of Rev. J. B. Costilow, BSU Director, 1955-1992 as "minister, friend, counselor and educator." The Alumni House is now to be known as "The J. B. and Virginia Costilow Alumni House."

Clarke College Alumni Association maintains a web site (Clarkecollege.com), Ms Ginny Neal, North Carrollton, MS, Web Master/Designer, through which they communicate their interest in continued contact, fellowship and prayer needs. Through CCAA's web site, plans are to establish continue and on-going relationships with former students and friends of the former "The 'little' Baptist Junior College in East Central Mississippi." Meetings are on the last Saturday of April each year. Information can be obtained on CCAA's official web site. Clarke College closed in May 1992.
