Reunion 2010

The yearly meeting of the Clarke College Alumni Association took place in the "Fine Arts Building" on CMRC Campus, Saturday, April 24, 2010.  Moses Clarke, Associate Pastor/Music at FBC Oneonta, AL, led the group in a time of music and worship.  Accompanist at the keyboard was Donald Pendergrast of Madison, MS.

Rick Tillotson, President of the Alumni Association, from Vicksburg, MS, welcomed all members and guests and introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Woodrow Burt.  Dr. Burt is president of Hannibal- LaGrange College in Hannibal, MO.  He reminded us that Clarke lives on as he gave an inspiring message.

Following his message, the Alumni Association held a business session.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the 2009-2010 financial report.  The report was approved. It was stated that everyone present would be given an opportunity to give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Rick Tillotson shared the names of those who had passed away in the previous year, and other names were also shared by members of the group. Tillotson led in prayer asking God to comfort and strengthen the family members of those deceased.  Including those mentioned was Bro. J. B. Costilow whose wife was in attendance.

A lengthy discussion was held relative to the time and date of the next meeting.  A motion was made and seconded that we meet the last Saturday in April and this motion carried.  Rick Tillotson stated that due to his circumstances it would be difficult to serve out his two year term as President, and consequently, Larry Costilow was nominated and elected by acclamation.

There was also a discussion as to how we might get the 50's group, the 60's group, the 70's group, and any other group to meet all together in one alumni meeting, while at the same time having individual group meetings.

At the end of the session, the 2010 meeting was adjourned and as was the tradition at Clarke, all in attendance gathered in a circle and sang "Sweet, Sweet Spirit."
