- Dear CMC,
Clarke Christian Education Corporation (CCEC), under the leadership of Rev. Nelson Crozier, Hattiesburg, Treasurer Chester Estes, Union, and Rev. Benny Still, Secretary, Grand Bay, Al, voted to establish a Memorial Scholarship Fund honoring the late Dr. W. Lowery and Jacqueline Compere, placing its remaining funds in this fund. CCEC was established in 1991 to purchase Clarke College Properties in Newton, MS, in order to set up a safe haven for forced Terminated ministers and their families.
The Lowery & Jacqueline Compere Memorial Scholarship will be established at William Carey College Hattiesburg, Ms. To provide financial assistance for male students that have accepted the call of God into the Gospel Ministry and who demonstrate excellence in preaching God's Word, and/or a female student pursuing a career in Speech education. The scholarship will be provided annually to a student or students selected by and at the discretion of the professor acting as head of the Cooper School of Missions on the Carey campus.

The Lowery and Jacqueline Compere Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Clarke/Compere Scholarship
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for male students that have accepted the call of God into the Gospel ministry and demonstrates excellence in preaching and/or a female student pursuing a career in speech education.
The scholarship shall be provided annually to a student or students selected by the head of the Cooper School of Missions.
Requirements:
1. Candidate must be a full time student preparing for a career in the ministry or speech education.
2. First consideration shall be given to students in good standing with a Southern Baptist Church whose parents or grandparents attended Clarke College, Newton Miss.
3. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
4. Recipients must be conservative in their theology and be in agreement with The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention.
